Social Promoter of the Month: Hope Walker

Meet this month’s Social Promoter of the Month: Hope Walker! Hope has been at Summit Salon Academy for about 4 months, and we have loved having her as a student! Get to know her and discover why she’s our Promoter of the Month!

All About Hope 

Before beauty school, Hope was serving and bartending at a restaurant full-time. She loves going to concerts, and had she not pursued beauty she would have studied anthropology and musical theater. Hope ultimately chose cosmetology school because she believes that helping people look the way they feel on the inside is inspiring! We couldn’t agree more, Hope!

So far, Hope’s favorite part of the industry is helping people feel good about themselves. She also loves that beauty school has helped her already get a jumpstart on her future career. Hope has found that developing a work ethic without being motivated by earning money is important if you want to be successful in the industry. You’re right, Hope! 

Hope’s Take on Social Media

Social media is a very important part of any beauty professional’s brand. Hope said it best when describing the impact social media has on the beauty industry:

“Social media speeds up the trend cycle like crazy. It also makes learning more accessible to professionals and non professionals… [and] makes content more easily shared which can expand your clientele.”

Hope has been utilizing social media as a beauty school student by posting her work and turning her feed into a portfolio. Before beauty school, Hope never used Instagram. But since being enrolled, she has learned that it’s a great tool for potential clients to contact her, without giving them any personal information. Any Advice for Future Students?

Hope says she likes to post to Instagram the work she feels most confident, and of client’s she’s built a relationship with. Her biggest advice for beauty students is “You don’t have to know how to do something the same day you learned it.” She believes that when you’re first starting out on social media, the aesthetic of the photo is not as important as just sharing your name and work. We think that’s great advice, Hope!
