Social Promoter of the Month: Chrissa Wilson
Meet this month’s social promoter of the month: Chrissa Wilson! Chrissa is an amazing student who came to us with experience in the beauty industry already. She’s been working as an esthetician for the past 10 years and decided to expand her skillset with an education in cosmetology.
Get To Know Chrissa
Chrissa has been at Summit Salon Academy since January. Before that, she worked as a licensed esthetician and helped manage a salon and spa in the Tacoma area. It’s amazing to see someone already in the beauty industry to go back to school to expand her skillset and learn cosmetology.
When she’s not learning skills in beauty and skincare, she loves photography and her kiddos.

As part of an education at Summit Salon Academy, our students can provide services to clients under the supervision of licensed professionals. When it comes to building her portfolio online, Chrissa is using Instagram to its fullest potential! You can check out all of her work on Instagram at @chrissasummitsalon.
Chrissa is using Instagram as her portfolio and for reaching out to her clients and followers. She reaches out not only for appointments, but to ask what people want to learn about her and the beauty services she is learning to provide.
As beauty school students should, Chrissa focuses a lot on posting on her Instagram. She told us that she uses IG stories almost daily and tries to post weekly. You don’t want to miss her stories with some of her favorite looks, so we recommend giving her a follow. She says you would be surprised how much people care about what you post.
Some advice from her to other students learning to use Instagram for their beauty business is to not use filters and take a few extra minutes to get a high quality shot.

Chrissa gave us amazing advice for future students. She told us:
“Try hard and do not be afraid to make mistakes… It’s in the mistakes that you will gain the most growth! Have fun and laugh way too often!”
We totally agree! Beauty school is a learning opportunity, and we want to provide that safe environment to help you learn skills you can use in the beauty industry, whether it’s haircutting, hair coloring, waxing, or something else.
Chrissa has always loved making people feel beautiful, and her favorite part about being in this industry according to her is the people you meet. She says, “It’s so fun to get together and create art and change lives.”
