Our annual hair show spectacular Hair BRA-Zaar is back! Join us for an exhilarating event where our gifted students and alumni will showcase vintage-inspired hair and makeup looks, in line with our theme of “Vintage Vibes”. As part of their creation, they will also be featuring a decorated bra as a symbol of our commitment to raising awareness about breast cancer.

The Hair Show promises to be an exciting event for anyone interested in hair and beauty. Attendees will have the opportunity to see our talented students in action showcasing their trends from the past decades.

But the Hair Show is more than just a fun event – it’s also an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of cancer patients. All of the proceeds from tickets, donations, and a silent auction will go directly to HairToStay.

What Is HairToStay?

HairToStay is a national, non-profit organization, founded in 2016, and dedicated to providing access to scalp-cooling treatments in order to dramatically reduce chemotherapy-induced hair loss.

Scalp cooling received FDA Clearance in 2015, and is a process that uses a cold cap to reduce the temperature of the scalp during chemotherapy. By lowering the temperature of the scalp, the blood vessels in the scalp constrict, which reduces the amount of chemotherapy that reaches the hair follicles. This, in turn, reduces the amount of hair loss that patients experience during treatment.

In speaking with HairToStay founder, Bethany Hornthal, she said once she learned that 8% of female patients admit to turning down chemo due to fear of hair loss, she was determined to get involved in creating access to scalp cooling for patients in the US. She also likes to quote one of HairToStay’s recipients, Alli Jo Houck – a young mom and past San Diego salon owner who said, “When you have cancer and have lost your hair, your cancer walks into the room before you do.”  According to Bethany, “If you can avoid losing your hair during your cancer treatment, you can maintain your privacy and a sense of normalcy during a very challenging time.”

HairToStay has provided subsidies to nearly 4,500 cancer patients across the United States, with a particular focus on patients who may not have access to these treatments due to financial barriers. They have been able to continue to never say “no” to an eligible patient thanks to haircare industry partners, advocates and leaders, like Sydney Berry. All funds raised through our Hair BRA-Zaar event will go to replenish the Sydney Berry Fund within HairToStay. This fund is used to subsidize women who are 40 and under working in the beauty industry and undergoing cancer treatment.

When Is The Hair Show?

Save the date for June 15th! Doors open at 6 pm, and the show begins at 7 pm. You can buy tickets here. Two ticket types are available to purchase:

• General Admission: $25 and includes a small gift bag. Seating is first come, first serve.
• VIP Admission: $45 and includes a large gift bag. This ticket comes with priority seating.
