Hair and Makeup Looks at the 87th Academy Awards!
The 87th Academy Awards were held in Los Angeles last night. We know that much will be written about what the royalty of Hollywood wore, so we won’t touch on that. Given that we know how much the right makeup and hair can make or break a look, we more excited about the hair and makeup looks.
Best Actress? More like best Classic Beauty! The nominees for Best Actress absolutely wowed us with their sleek, polished up-do’s and nude makeup palettes. The clear winner in this category also took home the Oscar for Best Actress. Julianne Moore showed off her enviable alabaster complexion and auburn hair with a very beautiful classic look. She wore understated eye-makeup, a cranberry lip, and a sleek low bun. She seems to get more gorgeous with each year!
Red Lips on the Red Carpet.
Red Lips were a HUGE trend! The shades ranged from the deep burgundys we saw on Viola Davis and Chrissy Teigen to the purpley raspberry we saw on Carmen Egojo. One of our favorites was Lady Gaga wearing bright fire engine red!
We are predicting that people will be clamoring to chop off their locks after seeing so many incredible short styles working the Red Carpet. Faith Hill, Scarlett Johansson, Viola Davis, and Jennifer Hudson impressed us with their short hair styles. Lupita Nyong’o‘s beautiful natural short hair was a perfect compliment to her pearl encrusted dress. (I know we said we wouldn’t mention the clothes, but WOW that dress was amazing!!
Middle parts were the surprise standout trend on the red carpet. We like it best paired with a slightly messy tousled look glam 70’s throwback style like the looks we saw on Solange Knowles and America Ferrera. But a middle part also looks great with the super sleek pulled back look we saw on Jenna Dewan Tatum.
What look was your favorite?
