How to Pay for Beauty School: Scholarships!

You can pay for beauty school through a mix of federal financial aid, scholarships, and payment planning, and you don’t have to figure it out alone. Filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) is the first step toward federal aid, and outside scholarships from organizations like Beauty Changes Lives and the American Association of Cosmetology Schools can help cover the rest. At Summit Salon Academy in Tacoma, our financial aid team walks prospective students through both options. Here’s how to get started.
Options to Help Pay for School
Financial assistance for beauty school generally comes from two sources: federal aid and scholarships.
- Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) using Summit Salon Academy’s school code, 041701.
- Our financial aid department will follow up once your results arrive.
- Scholarships are worth the extra research and application time, since many go unclaimed each year.
Who Should Apply?
Everyone. Financial assistance is offered to prospective students on a case-by-case basis depending on individual circumstances, so it’s worth applying even if you’re not sure you’ll qualify.
How To Apply for a Scholarship
Scholarship applications look different from one organization to the next. Some scholarship opportunities still require the time-honored essay, while others have moved to video applications and email submissions. Summit students can access scholarships through Beauty Changes Lives and the American Association of Cosmetology Schools, an organization we’re proud to be a member of.
Scholarships in Action
We’ve seen students land real awards, including the Vidal Sassoon Scholarship and the Joe Francis Scholarship. High school students exploring beauty school should also check with their guidance counselor and local community organizations, since many offer smaller scholarships specifically for career and technical education.
