Casual Style Tutorial
Looking for a new casual style? Well you are in luck! Student Stylist Nicole I agreed to show us her current favorite casual style. Keep reading for the tutorial!
Step 1: Shampoo and Condition hair and blow-dry hair straight.
Step 2: Part hair so that there is a V shape from the ears to the back of the head. You should grab the bottom third of the hair and clip the rest up out of your way.
Step 3: Spray bottom layer of hair lightly with Redken Hot Sets 22. It will protect the hair from the heat of the curling iron and help hold the shape.
Step 4: Grab a 1 inch section and wrap around the barrel of a curling iron. Do not use the clamp on the curling iron. Continue all around the head. Curl towards the center of the head, making sure to switch the direction of the curl when you reach the center of the head.
Step 5: Spray with Redken Fashion Work 12 when you finish curling the entire section. This hairspray will give a medium hold that is pliable but holds the shape of the curl.
Step 6: Section off the middle third of the hair, and clip the top third out of the way.
Step 7: Repeat steps 3-5
Step 8: Unclip top third of hair and repeat steps 3-5.
Step 9: Spray entire head with Fashion Work.
Step 10: Lightly comb through curls with fingers to loosen and relax curls.
Step 11: Grab 3″ section on the right side of the head directly above the ear. Divide it in to three parts.
Step 12: Apply Redken Braid Aid 03. To the section. This will give the braid grip and help the braid hold. (It also smells AMAZING.)
Step 13: Braid hair to the ends and secure with an elastic.
Step 14: Pull edges of braid. This will flatten it out and expand it.
Step 15: Stretch braid across the crown of the head like a headband. Secure the end of the braid with a bobby pin.
Step 16: Arrange curls to hide both ends of the braid.
Step 17: Spray hair with Redken Shine Flash 02 as needed for shine.
